| The Ag Farm in Seminole is turning fifty! To celebrate, the Seminole Vocational Education Center (aka The “AG” Farm to many Seminole residents) will be having a celebration / reunion / open house on Saturday, January 21st from 9am to 5pm. If you ever attended or worked at SVEC at any time during the past fifty years, you’re encouraged to revisit your school and friends and share your memories. If you've ever wondered what our school is all about, the general public (and your pets) are welcome to stop by and see us up close. Instructors will be on hand to answer questions and the campus will be available to tour; video diary booths will be set up to record comments and well wishes, hay rides and games will be going on throughout the day as well as live music from area musicians and a special concert from The Voices of Jazz, a 22 piece swing / big band. Student produced products will be available for purchase and you can enjoy food from local restaurants Joto's Pizza and Kona Ice as well as hot dogs and hamburgers prepared by the Kiwanis Club of Seminole. The Seminole Vocational Education Center offers students from Largo, Osceola and Seminole high schools the opportunity to step out of their normal high school day and into classes which offer a unique, "real world" style education. Hands-on learning combines with academic know-how to help equip students with job skill advantages right out of high school.
